Stop The Play

The act is now on display for the world to see
You laugh along, play along, so well it looks like reality.
What used to be a script is now etched into the lines of your life, defining your new mentality.

You played the game for so long now its playing you.
You went from being the director, to being directed into the new you

What you thought was just an act,
What you thought wasn’t the real you
What you thought would bring you acceptance
Only brought you further from the truth

So stop playing the game and drop the act
Stop acting your worse for a pat on the back

Because the very lines you wrote to free yourself from humiliation
Are the same lines that are bound to this generation

The lines that read “Don’t stand up for what you believe in,
Don’t stand up and feel free to believe in-“

Believe in a lie that’ll bring you acceptance.
Believe in the lie even if you reject it.
Just as long as you forget about repentance
And forget about the reality.

The reality that says
Before the play started you were free
Before you sought to appease them you sought to appease the King
Before the words to your script were written
And before you chose to remain hidden
It was hidden words that set you free

The act can only go on for so long before it becomes your reality.

The new reality that you chose to run and hide
When he died
To set you free

So stop writing the play of run and hide
And start living like he died, to set you free
Start living like he’s alive and it’s only his acceptance that you need.

Because you can continue writing you own play
Continue to fabricate your own day
Continue to please these shallow crowds
Even if it means breaking what you vowed

Because in the end he will have the last say
So I say
Stop the play!
