For school we have to write a EXPOSITORY essay, I'm not really sure if trying to explain ways in which students students could respond to another community and how they could help. It sounds more like I'm persuading them to help other places, but the school called it expository. So here it goes.
The sound
of the wind blowing past the trees, and the rain pounding on the ground fills
my ears. I close my eyes tightly and stand my ground, as the wind sways my body
back in forth, as if in sync with the trees. The wind eases and the rain has stopped,
my eyelids flutter open, and the smell of the sea fills my nostrils, before my
eyes fully open. A small gasp escapes my lips at what my eyes have beheld.
There are some areas of the streets that are flooded and debris floods the
ground, a once clean community now cluttered and dirty. However before the
sadness completely sinks in I feel a strand of hope, when I see a teenager walk
by. The possibilities in which a teenager can help is huge, they could sweep
the streets, pick up debris, feed those who have lost all their food, and they
could help build shelters for those who have none.
As
dark as the sky looks I have seen light, a vision of teenagers from all around
the state coming to these communities and help this community regain its honor,
after being stripped of its glory.
Response of the young is high, they could help sweep the streets, and
pick up garbage, and these small actions are the ones that are the greatest.
Each student I can see with a broom in hand and a handful with garbage bags ready
to consume the garbage. The change in the community would already have
commenced, and paths would slowly start to clear up for people to be able to
walk around in, and the teenagers would feel proud of the work they have
accomplished.
Equally
important students have the opportunity to bring can goods to those unfortunate
ones who have no food. Students could take actions around the state to donate
even 1 can good each which would multiply into a large sum to feed those who
have none. Student would fill the streets to feed those who have none, other
would send their donated goods to stations that would collect their food, and
send it to the site of struggle. To respond in love is a high quality, and when
things are done with joy, they can never be done better. The laughter and the
looks of those receiving this good deed being done to them can already be heard
and seen behind their faces.
Correspondingly
teenagers have the chance to build shelters for those without homes. The
significance of building homes for those without homes is vast. Teenagers that
would respond in working hand in hand and build shelters for those without
homes, will not be forgotten. They would have built up this community back to
how it began however it may have even have gained a stronger foundation then it
started out with. When the rain falls again the people of the community won’t
quiver at the sound because they would remember if a disaster would happen
again, and strong hand would be there to lift them from their pains, and a steady
back to lean on. The rain would be a bitter sweet memory; they won’t fear the
rain falling on their heads again, or the wind bending their houses.
All this to say, teenagers from
around the state have many ways in which they can respond to disasters. They
would be quite a help during times of struggle, and would never be forgotten.
From sweeping the streets and picking up debris, to feeding those without food,
even loving on the people can change their view of the
crisis. The teenagers would have a large venue in which they could respond to,
and there many ways in which they could respond.
(I'll tell you what grade I got on it when I turn it in, and when my teacher grades it, but what do you think I should get??)
